Grete is able to use her talent as a violin player to portray her absolute independence. Gregors sister began to play; the father and mother, from either side, intently watched the movements of her hands (Kafka 120). Grete, at this point, has managed to attract her parents and the three men living in the house. As she plays her music, she maintains an audience that watches intently, as the author describes it. For the first now, Grete is the center of the household, with all eyes focused on her. While this directly recognizes Gretes independence, the use of increasing vivacity suggests future growth.
